How to take clindamycin
Torna ai contenutiRead the leaflet in the pack before starting clindamycin. It explains how to take it and lists possible side effects.
Take clindamycin exactly as your doctor tells you to.
The usual dose for adults is 150-300 mg (one or two capsules) four times daily.
The dose for children may be less.
Swallow the capsules with a full glass of water. This is so the capsules do not become lodged in your throat and cause irritation. Do not open the capsules.
Space out your doses evenly throughout the day.
Take a dose every six hours.
Take clindamycin before or after meals.
If you forget to take a dose, take one as soon as you remember. Non prendere due dosi at the same time to make up for any that have been missed.
Keep taking clindamycin until you finish the course, even if you feel better, unless your doctor says to stop.
Treatment usually lasts about a week, but may be longer for bone infections. See your doctor if you still feel unwell after finishing.
