Championing the future of medicine
Patient.info is proud to launch the Educational bursary for medical students, an annual initiative designed to support and inspire the next generation of UK doctors. This bursary offers £250 to selected medical students across the UK each year. It is aimed at easing the financial challenges of medical education and helping students gain access to the tools, opportunities, and experiences that will shape their careers in healthcare.
What the bursary offers
Torna ai contenutiStudying medicine is as rewarding as it is demanding. Between lectures, clinical placements, and revision, students are often stretched financially as well as academically. The Patient.info bursary is intended to provide practical support. It can be used for anything that furthers a student’s medical training or career, including textbooks, digital learning resources, essential equipment, elective expenses, or attendance at educational conferences.
While the amount may be modest, we believe even small interventions can make a real difference whether it helps someone attend their first surgical skills workshop or access a resource they couldn’t otherwise afford.

Why we're investing in medical students
Torna ai contenutiAt Patient.info, we’ve spent over two decades building one of the UK’s most trusted platforms for health advice and patient education. We know that healthcare starts with people, those who learn, listen, care, and innovate. Supporting medical students is one way we contribute to a stronger, more compassionate NHS. It’s also an opportunity to help shape a more inclusive future, by offering support to those who may not always have access to extra funding.
This bursary reflects our core values: education, accessibility, and trust. By backing students early in their journey, we aim to encourage not just clinical excellence but also the kind of human-centred care that transforms lives.
Who can apply
Torna ai contenutiThe bursary is open to anyone currently enrolled at a UK medical school, at any stage of their undergraduate or graduate-entry degree. Applicants must be classed as UK home students. We’re particularly keen to hear from students who are passionate about healthcare communication, public health, or patient engagement—although any medical student with a clear vision for how they would use the bursary is welcome to apply.
We encourage applications from students of all backgrounds, including those from underrepresented communities or the first in their family to attend university.

How to apply
Torna ai contenutiApplications open each year on 1st of August and close at 11:59pm on 30th of September. The process is straightforward and entirely online. You’ll be asked to submit a short application form along with proof of enrolment at your medical school. The most important part of your submission is a personal statement, no longer than 300 words, explaining how this bursary will support your studies, professional development, or ambitions in healthcare.
What we’re looking for
Torna ai contenutiWe’re not looking for perfection or polish. Instead, we want to hear genuine stories. Tell us what motivates you to study medicine, what barriers you face, or what you’d like to achieve with a little extra support. Our selection panel includes healthcare professionals and members of the Patient.info editorial team. They will read each application carefully, looking for clarity, authenticity, and potential impact.
Successful applicants will be notified by email in September, with funds transferred directly to their nominated bank account. We may ask recipients to share a short quote or reflection about how the bursary helped them. This is entirely optional, but it can be a way to inspire others and build visibility for student voices on our platform.
