Why this happens

Metoprolol is a beta-blocker processed mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Rosuvastatin is a statin that is processed differently and does not significantly interfere with the enzymes that break down metoprolol. They work on different systems in the body (heart rate/blood pressure vs. cholesterol) and do not cancel each other out or dangerously increase each other's levels.

You can continue taking both medicines as prescribed by your doctor. As with any new medicine, monitor for general side effects such as unusual muscle pain (related to the statin) or a very slow pulse and dizziness (related to the beta-blocker), and report these to your GP if they occur.
