Can I take Amlodipine and Manjaro together?

Drug interaction guide

Taking Mounjaro (tirzepatide) alongside amlodipine may cause your blood pressure to drop lower than intended. You might feel dizzy, light-headed, or faint, especially when standing up quickly. Additionally, Mounjaro slows down how quickly your stomach empties, which can sometimes change how your body absorbs other tablets.

Why this happens

Mounjaro helps with weight loss and improves blood sugar, both of which can naturally lower blood pressure over time. When combined with amlodipine (a blood pressure medicine), the effects can add together. Mounjaro also delays 'gastric emptying' (the speed at which food and medicine leave the stomach), which can occasionally affect the timing of how amlodipine enters your system.

You should monitor your blood pressure regularly at home. If you feel dizzy, weak, or like you might faint, sit or lie down immediately. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist, as they may need to reduce your dose of amlodipine as you lose weight or as the Mounjaro takes effect. Always stand up slowly from a sitting or lying position.
