Both amlodipine and Jardiance (empagliflozin) can lower your blood pressure. Taking them together may cause your blood pressure to drop lower than intended, which could make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, especially when standing up quickly.

Why this happens
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker designed specifically to lower blood pressure. Jardiance is a SGLT2 inhibitor for diabetes that also has a mild diuretic effect (it helps the body remove salt and water through urine), which can further lower blood pressure. This is an additive effect.
What you should do
Back to contentsIt is generally safe to take these together, but you should monitor your blood pressure regularly at home. Be careful when getting out of bed or standing up from a chair. If you feel very dizzy, see stars, or feel like you might faint, contact your doctor, as they may need to adjust your doses.
