Why this happens

Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that can interfere with the liver enzymes (specifically CYP2C19 and CYP3A4) responsible for breaking down amitriptyline. This can lead to the antidepressant staying in your system for longer.

This combination is generally considered safe, but you should be mindful of any increased side effects. If you feel unusually sleepy, dizzy, or notice a change in your heart rhythm, speak to your doctor. They may choose to monitor you more closely or adjust your dose if necessary.
