Can I take Amitriptyline and Eliquis together?

Taking amitriptyline and Eliquis (apixaban) together may increase your risk of bleeding. This includes bruising more easily, nosebleeds, or more serious internal bleeding.

Why this happens

Amitriptyline can interfere with how platelets (the cells that help your blood clot) work. Since Eliquis is a blood thinner designed to prevent clots, combining the two can make it much harder for your body to stop any bleeding that occurs.

Use this combination with caution. You should inform your doctor if you are taking both. Seek medical help immediately if you notice signs of serious bleeding, such as blood in your urine, black or tarry stools, coughing up blood, or severe bruising that appears for no reason.
