Can I take Allopurinol and Cocodamol together?

There is no known direct interaction between allopurinol and co-codamol. It is generally safe to take these two medications together.

Why this happens

Allopurinol works by reducing the production of uric acid in the body to prevent gout. Co-codamol is a combination of paracetamol and codeine used for pain relief. These drugs are processed by different pathways in the liver and kidneys and do not interfere with how the other works.

You can take these medicines together as prescribed. However, always ensure you do not take any other products containing paracetamol while taking co-codamol to avoid an overdose. If you experience any unusual side effects, such as a skin rash or extreme drowsiness, contact your doctor.
