There is no direct interaction between alendronic acid and rosuvastatin. However, both medications can occasionally cause muscle aches or digestive upset as side effects. If you experience new or worsening muscle pain, it is important to distinguish which medication might be responsible.

Why this happens
These drugs work in completely different ways: alendronic acid strengthens bones by slowing down bone loss, while rosuvastatin lowers cholesterol by blocking an enzyme in the liver. They do not interfere with how the body absorbs, breaks down, or removes each other.
What you should do
Back to contentsYou can safely take both medications as prescribed. To ensure alendronic acid works correctly and doesn't irritate your food pipe, take it first thing in the morning with a full glass of plain water, at least 30 minutes before any food, drink, or other medicines (including your rosuvastatin). If you develop unusual muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, contact your doctor.
