Can I take Abilify and Fluoxetine together?

Why this happens

Fluoxetine blocks a specific enzyme in your liver (called CYP2D6) that your body uses to break down and remove Abilify. Because the 'clean-up' process is slowed down, the Abilify builds up to higher levels than intended.

You must speak to your doctor before taking these together. Your doctor will likely need to prescribe a much lower dose of Abilify (often half the usual dose) if you are also taking fluoxetine. If you are already taking both, do not stop suddenly, but contact your doctor if you feel unusually drowsy, dizzy, or notice any strange muscle movements.
