Drug interaction guide

There is a potential risk of increased bleeding when taking glucosamine alongside blood-thinning medications like warfarin. Why this happens

Glucosamine may enhance the effects of anticoagulant (blood-thinning) drugs, though the exact biological reason is not fully understood. It may also interfere with how the body processes sugar (insulin sensitivity). MSM is an organosulphur compound that does not have many well-documented chemical interactions but can have additive side effects on the digestive system.

If you are taking any blood-thinning medication (like warfarin) or medication for diabetes, you must speak to your doctor or pharmacist before starting this supplement. Monitor for any unusual bruising or bleeding. If you are scheduled for surgery, stop taking glucosamine at least two weeks beforehand.
